ALBANY - The court of appeals is hearing the case of a Watervliet man, serving a life sentence for murder.

Back in 2008, Christopher Oathout was found guilty of murder for choking and stabbing 70-year-old Robert Taylor of Albany.

Oathout had maintained that witnesses lied on the stand and that his lawyer during the trial, John Aretakis, was incompetent.

Oathout later hired Cheryl Coleman to replace Aretakis.

The October 2006 stabbing occurred at the Dewitt Clinton apartments.
