Traffic stop leads to late night drug arrest

ALBANY – State police have arrested a 22-year-old Albany man after a traffic stop led them to discover a heroin and marijuana in the car he was driving.

Police say they pulled over Emanuel Zapata for tinted windows and a loud exhaust. When the trooper approached the vehicle he detected a strong odor of marijuana.

Police say after a search of the vehicle, troopers discovered 750 bags of heroin and 22 grams of marijuana in a hidden compartment.

Zapata was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal possession of marijuana and a violation related to traffic offenses.
