Police raided this spa in Bennington, Vt.
BENNINGTO, Vt. - The FBI and Bennington police are pouring over evidence they seized after raiding two day spas in downtown Bennington. The two businesses are under investigation for possible human trafficking and prostitution.
The investigation may now include Schenectady.
The shades were drawn at Golden Sunny Day Spa on State Street in Schenectady. No one inside would talk to NewsChannel 13. The day spa is part of court documents used as evidence to raid the two other day spas in Bennington.
Police are trying to figure out if the businesses were fronts for a prostitution ring and possible human trafficking operations.
"There were additional add-ons to the massages," said Bennington Police Lt. Lloyd Dean.
Court papers show the add-ons in details at Green Spa on Main Street and Cozy Spa on North Street in Bennington. They collected the evidence with undercover work and postings online at a website that reviews these types of day spas.
According to one posting, a client described his experience at Green Spa in Bennington.
"She washed my (expletive) like a champion, very thorough and sensual, all while talking erotically," the reviewer said.
He then compared it with Golden Sunny in Schenectady.
"The last time I was at Golden Sunny was disappointing. Mary gave me a mediocre massage and an unenthusiastic (expletive)," the review stated.
He went on to recommend Green Spa.
Investigators are now going through the evidence they seized in Bennington on Tuesday.
"All the evidence has been collected and the investigation is now in the process of analyzing all the items that were obtained in the search warrant," Dean said.
The items include bank statements, laptop computers, calendars, receipts, cell phones and nearly $2,000 in cash.
Police say no arrests have been made in the case. The businesses in Bennington have not been ordered to shut down.
