ALBANY - This year's 2013 Tulip Queen is 18-year-old Kate Bender of Slingerlands.

She was crowned in a ceremony on Saturday afternoon.

Bender is a Freshman at Siena College.

"I am ecstatic. My feelings cannot even be expressed in words right now. I am so honored for this opportunity. I have wanted it ever since I was a little girl. Being able to fulfill this dream is just incredible. It gives me more encouragement to go out there and work with the youth of Albany, and be able to encourage them to reach their own dreams," she said.

The Tulip Fest continues through Sunday, as "Mother of the Year" is named.
