LIVINGSTON , N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 22-year-old woman has escaped with just minor injuries after her vehicle crashed into a high-voltage utility tower along a Columbia County road.

Troopers say Amanda Auriemma of Hudson was driving north on Route 9 around 4:30 a.m. Sunday when her vehicle veered off the road, continued for about 50 yards and hit a National Grid tower in Livingston.

Police say the vehicle became lodged into the base of the tower. A National Grid crew had to stabilize the damaged structure before the vehicle could be removed.

Troopers say Auriemma suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Police say alcohol wasn't a factor in the accident. The cause is still being investigated.
