WATERVLIET - A demolition crew is putting off its next attempt to tear down the bell tower of St. Patrick's Church.
Attempts last week to pull down the 137-foot-tall bell tower were unsuccessful when the cables attached to the structure snapped.
The crew wanted to try again Monday, but the company says they need a larger crane.
Company officials say the demolition will resume Wednesday.
Most of the nearly 125-year-old Catholic Church is being demolished to make way for a supermarket.
The church closed in 2011.
Preservationists went to court to save the church, but lost the legal battle.
