SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - A 49-year-old Massachusetts man has admitted threatening a student at an upstate New York college.

Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy III says Lance Leonard pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of first-degree coercion.

Authorities said Leonard threatened to kill a Skidmore College student after she broke off a relationship with him. Officials locked down the campus for several hours because of the threat on March 5.

Leonard was tracked down in Atlantic City the next day and arrested.

Authorities described Leonard at the time as a transient whose last known address was in Cuttyhunk, an island off the coast of Massachusetts.

Murphy says his office will request jail time, probation and mental health treatment when Leonard is sentenced July 8.
