North Greenbush Police Department

NORTH GREENBUSH - A North Greenbush man has been arrested on charges of child abuse.

Police say 30-year-old Michael Childs assaulted the 4-year-old son of his live-in girlfriend.

Police were called after the boy was taken to a Troy hospital for an unrelated illness and doctors noticed suspicious injuries.

The boy was treated and released to his mother.

Childs is charged with four counts of third-degree assault and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child -- all misdemeanors. He's in jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or a $20,000 bond.
