Have you ever received a robocall that claims to be pertaining to your current electric bill? If so, you're not alone.

A Halfmoon family contacted NewsChannel 13’s Waste Watchers to ask what these are about and how to stop them.

We contacted the Department of State and they say it's a growing problem. They appear to be coming from energy supply companies trying to get more people to switch their gas and electric service.

But it may also be a scam.

If you get a call like this, you should file a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry. Call 1-888-382-1222 or you can file online.
