RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - Police say a Vermont woman is being held on $50,000 bail after allegedly stabbing a man in a dispute over beer.

Rutland police say Douglas Smith of Ripton was treated at Rutland Regional Medical Center for a stab wound early Sunday.

Officials tell the Burlington Free Press (http://bfpne.ws/1bToxNe ) that Smith had been at a Forest Street residence drinking beer with Cynthia Namiot of Rutland when an argument erupted about who owned the beer. That's when Namiot allegedly stabbed Smith.

Police say Namiot is charged with aggravated assault and violation of condition of release.
