SCHENECTADY - Police have made arrests in connection with numerous burglaries in the Northside neighborhood.
Police say 22-year-old Joshua Wise of Avenue B, confessed to many of the 18 recent burglaries.
In one case, police say he even gained access to a second floor bedroom and stole a phone.
He was captured by police after a neighbor called them for a suspicious man Monday morning.
Police say he traveled through backyards at night and was undetected.
“He was smart though, no forced entry, other than maybe removing the screen…but he only picked the windows where he could raise them physically without a lot of effort. He ran in one place where the owner put up stops in the windows. He couldn’t get in that way, but he knew the back door was open,” said Schenectady Police Commissioner Wayne Bennett.
Three other people were also arrested by police.
They include 22-year-old Hussain Hussain, a worker at Sain’s Discount, for allegedly possessing a stolen iPad from one of the homes, and 36-year-old Shani Payton, who was accused of trying to sell a stolen iPhone to a second hand dealer.
Wise's roommate, Miguel Beltran, was arrested in connection with a bench warrant.
