ALBANY - More than 500 people spent Labor Day morning, pounding the pavement to help others.

The 25th annual SEFCU Labor Day 5k race was held.

This year's proceeds go to not-for profit organizations.

More than $30,000 was been raised.

"Actually, there's three charities this year. What we did was we opened it up to online voting. Well over 8,000 votes were cast. Capital City Mission was the winner. So they're getting $25,000 of the $30,000 that we're donating," said Michael Castellana of SEFCU.

The Schenectady City Mission and the Albany Housing Coalition are the other organizations receiving the money.
