GUILDERLAND – An early morning fire leaves a mansion destroyed.
The fire broke out at the home on East Lydius Street around 1:00 Tuesday morning.
Firefighters say half of the building was already lost when they arrived on the scene.
The home was vacant at the time.
The assistant chief says the fire may have started in the basement.
“It’s very humid outside, so the guys can get dehydrated very quickly. That’s why we have rehab. We change them out and they get hydrated and cooled off with ice, take a break. They get everything checked on them before they go back in the cycle again,” said Asst. Fire Chief Bill Fleming of the Fort Hunter Fire Department.
No one was injured.
There is one lane open for travel on East Lydius Street, between Siver Road and Brookview Drive.
