SCHENECTADY – A large gathering at a curbside memorial near the site of a Schenectady shooting ended with two men under arrest.
Police responded to a report of shots fired near the memorial on Becker Street, where two men were shot last week. When police arrived, they say 200 people were blocking the street. Officers from Rotterdam, Glenville, Niskayuna, the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Department and the state police were called in to help manage the crowd.
Christopher Perez, 17, and David Ramos, 20, are charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Perez is also accused of unlawful possession of marijuana.
Two brothers were shot at a backyard barbecue in this area on Friday night. One of the victims, 24-year-old Jose “Mikey” Torres, was killed. His older brother, 31-year-old Luis Gomez, is expected to recover. No arrests have been made in that case.
