SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) - A 29-year-old man has pleaded guilty to charges he killed his girlfriend and her mother in the women's Rotterdam home.
Prosecutors say Brice Rivenburgh of Rotterdam pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder Tuesday in Schenectady County Court. He faces a sentence of anywhere from 35 years to life prison to 45 years to life.
The bodies of 22-year-old Jessica McCormack and 52-year-old Tammy McCormack were found in separate bedrooms at their house in Rotterdam on April 10. Rivenburgh was quickly taken into custody.
Prosecutors said Rivenburgh and Jessica McCormack had an "on again, off again" relationship for a couple of years, but recently had a falling out.
Authorities said Rivenburgh raped the younger woman in the early morning hours and set fire to her bed after returning to the home. Both women were strangled.
