SCHENECTADY – A woman’s body was found at the Swett & Swett Welding & Ornamental Iron building on Strong Street Tuesday afternoon.
The body was found around 1:30, by workers who came back from lunch.
No word on who the woman is right now, but police do not suspect foul play.
Several employees from the body shop were taken downtown to be interviewed by police.
A young woman whose boyfriend and father work there says, “My dad talked to the police officer. The police officer said everyone is okay. Somebody plugged in one of the grinders over at the shop. I guess they said she slit her neck,” said the woman.
Police have not confirmed her story.
“Obviously it’s very early in the investigation, trying to ascertain her identity, what ties she may or may not have had to the business, and how she ultimately ended up in the shop,” said Lt. Mark McCracken of the Schencetady Police Department.
Again, police say they do not suspect foul play.
