ALBANY – Police are investigating a shooting in the South End neighborhood.
The shooting happened late Tuesday night on Second Ave. near Tenuis St. and Benjamin St.
Police say the victim is a 34-year-old man from Troy.
He had three gunshot wounds, but was still able to walk to the police station for help.
The man is now in stable condition at the hospital.
The shooting especially upsetting to Rev. Avery Comithier of the Elijah Missionary Church
He has been working to improve quality of life in Albany’s South End, where the church is located.
That includes getting a trash can and bus shelter put in.
“What I do is every morning, I am here, just watching and making sure that children are safe during the day…I sit here, I walk around. Certain times the Albany Police Department walk with me. I walk with them,” says Rev. Comithier.
The reverend is now worried about retaliation.
He’s worried the victim’s friends from Troy will return and cause more trouble.
