LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (AP) - Regulators have started taking public comment on a plan to require inspection and decontamination of boats being launched from trailers on Lake George.
NewsChannel 13's media partners at The Post-Star report that the Lake George Park Commission has also scheduled two hearings next month on the proposal to control the spread of invasive species. The hearings will be on Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Roaring Brook Ranch Resort in Lake George and 6 p.m. at the Best Western in Ticonderoga.
If the rule is adopted, launch operators will have 60 days to register and prepare their equipment.
The comment period ends on Oct. 18. Written comments may be mailed or emailed to the state commission. A copy of the proposal is available on the commission website.
