New York State and Amtrak are trying to meet a deadline. If they don't agree on a cost-sharing deal on Tuesday, some rail service could be halted and some Amtrak employees could be out of work.
A spokesman for Amtrak sent us a statement, saying the affected routes are the Ethan Allen, the Maple Leaf, and the Adirondack.
Without an agreement with the state, Amtrak will stop accepting reservations on those routes on Wednesday, and will park the trains on October 16. A spokesman for the State Department of Transportation would only say the two sides are very close.
