A 23-year-old Cohoes man is being held in Rensselaer County Jail after police say he stabbed a man at a house party in Troy.

Police say they were called to a disturbance at 81 Jay Street in the Collar City around 12:15am Saturday. When they arrived, they say they discovered 45-year-old Jerome Rakestraw, of Albany, with serious stab wounds to his torso.

After talking to witnesses, police arrested 23-year-old Bryan Wright without incident. Police also uncovered a knife they believe to be the weapon.

Wright is charged with 1st Degree Assault, Burglary and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He was arraigned Saturday morning and is being held in Rensselaer County Jail without bail.

Police say Rakestraw is being treated for his injuries at Albany Med and is expected to survive.
