ALBANY - The man suspected of trying to abduct two women on the University at Albany's downtown campus has been arrested.

Anthony Collins, 54, was taken into custody late Tuesday afternoon.

The incidents happened last week near the Alumni Quad and Waterbury Hall on Western Ave.

Security video just before 8 a.m. Friday shows Collins attempting to abduct a woman at knifepoint, police said. She was able to get safely on the bus and leave the area.

Police said Collins approached a second woman about a half-hour later.

The investigation began on Monday, after a witness contacted police.

Collins is expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning on two misdemeanors.

Police are urging the two women to come forward, which would allow them to upgrade the charges.

Police believe this is the man who tried to abduct two women Friday morning.
