Albany man sentenced for drug possession

Omar Johnson, 39, of Albany was sentenced to five years in prison for drug possession.
ALBANY - An Albany man will spend five years in state prison for felony possession of narcotics.
Omar Johnson, 39, was sentenced in Albany County Court on Tuesday. Johnson pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree in early August.
The arrest comes after Albany Police searched Johnson’s home on Second Avenue in Albany on May 31. Officers found nine ounces of cocaine and almost $11,000 in cash.
As part of his guilty plea, Johnson surrendered the cash along with two illegal handguns and the car used in drug sales.
