SCHENECTADY - A tipster wanted to know how much a group home spent on a gazebo, when there is already a back porch for residents.
Through a freedom of information request, NewsChannel 13 found the State Office of Mental Health spent $4,150 to buy a new gazebo from the Backyard Shed Company in Selkirk.
The Office of Mental Health did not want to go on camera but sent a written statement saying this is “the only covered, outdoor structure on the property away from neighboring properties”.
And it “allows these citizens, like any other Americans fortunate enough to have a backyard, to enjoy their yard in times of varying weather,”
