SCHUYLERVILLE – Students in Schuylerville got a history lesson Thursday as they attended a ceremony marking “Surrender Day.”
The ceremony commemorates British Gen. John Burgoyne’s surrender 236 years ago, ending the Battles of Saratoga. It’s considered a turning point of the Revolutionary War.
Around 125 students, parents and teachers from Schuylerville Elementary School attended.
State Sen. Kathleen Marchione spoke at an event. She talked about the importance of remembering historical battles like the Battles of Saratoga and appreciating the spirit and sacrifice of the American patriots who shaped this area’s history.
