A Chatham man is facing DWI and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident charges after police say he drove drunk and crashed his truck into a home in the Village.
New Lebanon Troopers say 46-year-old Louis VanAlstyne crashed into the home on Railroad Avenue just before 2:30am Saturday and attempted to flee the scene. After a short foot chase, Troopers caught up with VanAlstyne.
Police say no one was home at the time of the accident and VanAlstyne was uninjured and refused any medical attention at the time of his arrest. He will face multiple traffic violations in addition to his other charges.
VanAlstyne is being held in Columbia County Jail and will appear in the Village of Chatham Court on October 22.
