On Tuesday, the State Education Department released its preliminary ratings for teachers and principals. These are the results of the statewide evaluation system know as APPR, but they do not include New York City schools.
91.5 percent of teachers were rated effective or highly effective.
Only one percent were rated ineffective. When we look at school principals, about 87 percent were rated effective or highly effective.
Seven and a half percent are developing. And two percent were ineffective.
