SARATOGA SPRINGS - A court has apparently cleared the way to tear down the old Winans-Crippen house on Franklin Street.

The 150-year-old mansion has fallen into disrepair in recent years.

The property owner petitioned City Hall to tear it down, but Saratoga Springs' Preservation Foundation has argued for its protection.

A state Appellate Court has denied an appeal they filed. The building may now be torn down pending appropriate paperwork.
