HALFMOON- The embattled town supervisor of Halfmoon has resigned. The town clerk received a letter of resignation Friday from Mindy Wormuth.
Wormuth states that she is on medical leave that runs through Dec. 20.
With her term ending on Dec. 31, Wormuth says she will not be able to resume and fulfill the responsibilities as town supervisor in a meaningful way.
Her resignation is effective on Saturday.
Wormuth is facing federal bribery charges as well as grand larceny charges in Waterford Court. She’s accused of accepting a $7,500 bribe in exchange for public support of mixed martial arts. She also allegedly stole $6,000 from her campaign fund.
In a statement released by the Halfmoon Town Board, member Craig Hayner says the board is “looking forward to finally closing this chapter and starting a new one.”
The board also notes that its been functioning without Wormuth for some time and is committed to serving residents without further distraction.
