MALTA – A man who works under an electrical subcontractor at GlobalFoundries as an apprentice, has been arrested in connection with the security threat that caused part of the plant to be evacuated.

Police say 25-year-old Robert Thomas left a note on toilet paper in a portable bathroom stall, saying explosives had been put inside the facility.

The note also mentioned a sniper rifle.

The threat caused the construction portion of the Fab 8 site to be evacuated. Around 3,000 people work there.

Police say the public was never in any danger.

Thomas was sent to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of bail.

Things are expected to be back to normal on Tuesday.

The operations portion of the site was not affected.
