RENSSELAER - The Department of Homeland Security tells NewsChannel 13 that it served a search warrant on the home of John Halacy on Tuesday.
He is the man who escaped felony sex assault charges last week, because of a mistake by the district attorney's office, who missed a deadline to file paperwork.
On Tuesday, federal authorities and Rensselaer Police were at the top floor apartment on 1605 2nd Street, but we still don't know what they were looking for, or if they found it.
Police did say the search is not connected to a search executed by Colonie Police, in connection with a Thanksgiving Day burglary.
Halacy was not arrested, or named as a suspect in that case.
NewsChannel 13 rang the doorbell at the apartment on Tuesday, but no one answered.
Halacy is due back in Rensselaer City Court on Wednesday morning, to answer misdemeanor charges that remain from the larger felony rape case that was dropped against him.
