FORT EDWARD – The union representing General Electric employees at the Fort Edward plant is not happy with the Governor’s efforts to save the plant.

The union announced that it will place full page ads in the Albany Times Union criticizing the New York leader.

The union president says the group of 177 workers tried to engage Governor Andrew Cuomo in their efforts to save the plant, but it got no meaningful help from his office.

GE made the final decision to close the Fort Edward plant in late November.

The company is relocating to Florida.

The union says it’s a move that will cost a lot of money for Washington, Warren and Saratoga Counties.

The group estimates that the plant and its payroll contributed about $35 million annually to the tri-county area.

The union says the Governor should be fighting to keep good jobs here.
