The Rensselaer man who escaped rape charges was back in court again Thursday morning. John Halacy, 24, was offered a plea deal in a separate case involving a burglary in Albany County, but he rejected it.

Halacy's attorney says on the record he rejected the plea deal because he believes he didn't do anything wrong.

He went before the judge Thursday morning and said no to a deal on a burglary charge that would put him in prison for five years with three years of post release supervision.

Halacy’s now on track to go to trial in the case, where if convicted he could face 15 years in prison.

Halacy is accused of breaking into a home in Colonie on Thanksgiving Day with his brother and a friend and stole more than $10,000 worth of possessions.

The other two suspects, Raymond Halacy and Andre Beverly, were found in Florida. Colonie Police are bringing them back to the Capital Region to face charges.

John Halacy escaped rape charges in Rensselaer County back in November after a mistake by the prosecution. He's still facing misdemeanor charges in that case.

John Halacy may also be in trouble with federal authorities. In December, his home in Rensselaer was raided by the U.S. attorney and Homeland Security. There is o word from the feds in that case.
