SPRINGFIELD, Ma. - The jury in Springfield, Massachusetts got to work Monday, deciding the fate of accused killer, Adam Lee Hall.
The trial was moved there, after the case got so much public attention in Pittsfield, where the murders were committed.
The jury was sent home at about 4 p.m. after three hours of opening day deliberations.
The defense insists that the prosecution has no case against Adam Lee Hall.
Even the Prosecutor concedes that the evidence is far from overwhelming, but he still told the jury in closing statements that he believes the evidence is convincing enough.
The triple murder allegedly committed by Adam Lee Hall and two others was a extreme, pre-meditated atrocity according to Prosecutor David Capeless.
“These were not just killings; they were depraved and hate-filled and satisfied not just an attempt to keep three men from testifying in court, but in satisfying some lust for retribution, an intent to take apart these men piece by piece,” says the prosecution.
Hall, who was a ranking member of a Berkshire county Hell’s Angels motorcycle club, interrupted Capeless with a profane outburst.
It was the only time during the three week trial that the jury heard the defendant speak.
Meanwhile Defense Attorney Alan Black wanted to make sure the jury remembers that despite the bloody, gory dismemberment of three Berkshire County men, there’s no physical evidence, no
He also pointed out many of the witnesses are facing criminal charges of their own, and would say or do anything to avoid jail time.
Given that there are 19 charges against the defendant and his co-defendants, it’s no surprise that they didn’t reach a verdict after three hours.
The jury will resume deliberations at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
