Federal charges are being dropped against a man accused of setting a fire that killed a Schenectady father and three young kids.
Federal prosecutors say there are a number of reasons they dropped charges against Robert Butler, including information about the involvement of others. Butler was arrested and accused of arson the day after the fire last May on Hulett Street.
At the time, sources told Newschannel 13 Butler had been romantically involved with the childrens' mother. She, so far, has not been charged with any crimes in this fire.
Only one child survived the fire, but she was badly burned. Family members say she is still in the hospital.
