The earliest job cuts at General Electric’s Fort Edward plant won’t happen until at least the beginning of next year.

Last September, General Electric announced its intentions to shut down the 75-year-old Fort Edward plant and move operations to Clearwater, Fla.

NewsChannel 13's media partners at The Post Star report the job cuts could have started as early as this coming September. About 200 jobs will be lost.

Employees rallied to try and save the plant but were not able to.
