PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- Seven weeks have passed since Shaker High School graduate, Reny Jose, disappeared while vacationing in Florida. Jose's family says they're still doing all they can to find him. Currently, the Jose's are in Florida, working with authorities in the search for Reny.
Despite little to no leads, investigators are continuing their search efforts for the 21-year-old. "This continues to be an active investigation, it's not a cold case. It's not a closed case, we are continuing to follow any and all leads and avenues in the investigation as they present themselves. We are open to all possibilities," said Major Tommy Ford with the Bay County Sheriff's office.
Reny Jose, now a student at Rice University, was last seen at a beach house on May 3rd. He and a group of friends were on spring break when Jose disappeared. Since then, officials have only been able to find his wallet, cell phone and clothes in a trash can near the house. Jose's family has made the trip from the Capital Region to Bay County, several times since Reny went missing.
The Jose's sat down with our affiliate in Panama City on Wednesday to ask for the public's help. "Please stay vigilant, please just look out for anything that seems unusual, especially to the people in the Panama City area. Until we see a body, we are not giving up. We are going to continue to believe that Reny is still alive." Reashma Jose, Jose's sister, pleaded.
Family and friends have organized a walk, scheduled for Sunday, April 27th, here in Albany. Organizers are asking those planning to attend, to wear a white t-shirt, if possible. The information for the walk can be found here.
