The state comptroller says the Albany-based LaSalle school overcharged taxpayers by nearly half a million dollars.
The comptroller says the bulk of that came from compensation for 10 teachers who did not have the required certifications.
LaSalle is a special education provider and is reimbursed by the state.
The school's executive director responded to the audit, saying that many of the teachers in question have since become certified and did so under agreement with the State Education Department.
