Large grant awarded for Pittsfield life sciences innovation center

The city of Pittsfield has been awarded a $9.7 million dollar grant.

The money will be used to build a life sciences innovation center.

The 20,000 square foot facility will be located in the William Stanley Business Park.

It will house high-tech research, production and work force training for life science companies and related businesses.

Construction is expected to begin by the summer of 2015.
