New York State may be tiptoeing toward legalizing medical marijuana.
The state Assembly in Albany has now passed a medical marijuana bill.
It’s called the Compassionate Care Act.
But that's not where the battleground has been in the past.
The bill has always failed in the Senate.
That's where things are progressing differently this year.
It recently passed in a Senate Health Committee.
But the vote was close: 9-8.
Now the bill is in the Senate Finance Committee.
If it passes out of there, a medical marijuana bill could go to the floor for a full Senate vote before the end of session.
