EAST GREENBUSH – Mazzone Hospitality is on board to create a high end dining facility if East Greenbush is awarded a casino.

Capital View Casino and Resort announced Wednesday morning that's it's formed an alliance with Mazzone Hospitality.

Earlier this month, Mazzone had been speaking in favor of a rival casino along the Mohawk in Schenectady.

But reporters also wanted to hear a response about just released meeting notes under the Freedom of Information Law, first reported in Wednesday's Times Union.

It shows town officials considering minimizing public comment and appearing to help the developers.

Don Johnson obtained the notes.

(It is) "a conspiracy to get this thing done without too much community input or knowledge," Johnson said.

A casino representative not present at the meetings defends the activity.

"We've met with the town board members," Rita Cox told reporters. "We've met with the community leaders and we've given multiple opportunities for people to speak out about this. We followed the process that has been laid out and we were very public and very open about that process."

Opponents have a lawyer and hope to go to court.

"These are representatives that are supposed to be listening to us," said Cara Benson. "They're supposed to be rrpresenting us and to see that they're in a PR meeting figuring out how they can sell this to us as opposed to 'is this a good thing for us?' is extremely disconcerting. We have felt all along that this is a rushed process."
