EAST GREENBUSH—An East Greenbush woman who called 911 to report a friend’s heroin overdose on Friday was arrested for heroin possession the same day.
Police say Donna Sorrell, 19, called police when a young man she was with overdosed and passed out in a Mill Creek parking lot.
One witness said she saw Sorrell hide her purse before police arrived. Authorities later found the purse and say it also had heroin and hypodermic needles.
The man Sorrell was with regained consciousness when police arrived and refused medical help.
Sorrell will appear in court later this month.
Meanwhile, a number of public training sessions are planned for next week on how to use the drug Narcan, which reverses the effects of a heroin overdose.
