The Niskayuna School District has reached an agreement over a two-year contract dispute.
It means the district will avoid litigation over the subcontracting its bus drivers when they switched to drivers from First Student Inc.
The agreement is retroactive to 2013 and goes through the end of the 2017-2018 school year.
The terms include a one-time payment of $350 for 10-month employees and $750 for year-round employees. There will also be a 1.5 percent increase for unit members for the final three years of the contract.
However, there will be no pay increases for the 2012-2013 or 2013-2014 school year.
Bus drivers who were laid off will now be phased back in over a period of years until everyone has been offered their jobs back.
In addition to bus drivers, the Niskayuna School District Employees Association also represents 150 members who are custodians, grounds workers, mechanics and food service workers.
