ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Candidates battling in New York's 20th Congressional District are working hard in the last days of the race to make sure their supporters vote.
Voter turnout is critical in a special election, where it's historically low because there are no statewide races or big-name candidates to draw people to the polls.
Volunteers for Democrat Scott Murphy and Republican Jim Tedisco are making calls, knocking on doors, "Tweeting," and adding friends on social networking sites.
Joseph Mercurio, a New York City-based political consultant, says the March 31 election could come down to a few hundred votes - making the turnout efforts pivotal.
The district sprawls from the mid Hudson Valley north to the Adirondacks.
