GlobalFoundries plans moving forward

MALTA - A job fair is planned for positions at the new GlobalFoundries computer chip plant on the same day a landmark step toward building the computer chip plant in Saratoga County is taken.

The AMD spinoff company will officially buy the first 223 acres of its site at the Luther Forest Tech Park today.

The company has accepted $1.2 billion in incentives from the state.

The company is going to build a $4.2 billion dollar chip plant. It will employ 1,400 people.

They will start clearing the site in Malta and Stillwater next week.

M+W Zander is the project manager for construction of the computer chip plant.

The College of Nanoscale Science at the University at Albany is assisting them by hosting a job fair this evening. Positions available include electrical and mechanical designers, engineers and estimators, accountants and purchasing agents.
