Police say they spotted Judge Gerard Maney making a U-turn Thursday night to steer clear of a checkpoint on the Green Island Bridge. Police tried to pull him over. They say he kept going for a mile and a half before stopping in front of the Purple Pub on Route 32 in Watervliet. The officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol when he approached Maney's car. The judge, who was in the car alone, failed a field sobriety test. On a breath test he registered a 0.07 blood alcohol content level. That's is just under the limit for DWI, but still considered too tipsy to be behind the wheel. He was arrested and charged with DWAI. Maney was released and is due in Green Island Town Court on July 7.
