Bill would end gag rule for pharmacists

On Monday, NewsChannel 13 shared the story about clawbacks. That's when your co-pay, usually for a generic drug, is more than the actual cost of the drug.
The difference is pocketed by a middle man - the pharmacy benefit manager. But your pharmacist can't tell you, you could save money paying out of pocket instead of paying the co-pay.
A bill ending the gag rule on pharmacists was approved by the senate late Tuesday afternoon. The Assembly already approved it so it now goes to the governor for his signature.
Until then, always ask your pharmacist if the cash cost of your prescription is less than your co-pay.
