Babies with HIV on the decline
March 20, 2017 05:03 PM
The number of babies with HIV has fallen in recent years.
The Centers for Disease Control estimates 69 babies were born infected with HIV in 2013. That's down from an estimated 216 infants in 2002.
The CDC says more can be done to further reduce those numbers.
The risk for HIV infection in babies decreases when mothers are diagnosed earlier and get proper medical care.
