Study: Minority women may need earlier breast cancer screenings

March 08, 2018 07:14 PM

Women of color may need to consider earlier screenings for breast cancer. That's according to a new study out of Massachusetts General Hospital.

The study looked at black, Hispanic and Asian women. It found they are generally diagnosed with breast cancer earlier than white women.

Researchers say they also found that black and Hispanic women tended to be diagnosed with more aggressive cancers.

It's not clear if this points to a need for earlier screening or a need to improve the quality of overall cancer care among minorities.
