MRI testing is safe for patients with implanted pacemakers and defibrillators. That’s according to new research from Johns Hopkins University.
Many people with older implantable heart devices have been told not to get an MRI. But the study showed when proper protocols were followed, MRI imaging was safe.
The findings are important because about half to three quarters of people with these devices will need an MRI during their lifetime.
