Government confirms first case of Ebola in US

DALLAS (AP) — Federal health officials on Tuesday confirmed the first case of Ebola diagnosed in the U.S., a patient who recently traveled from Liberia to Dallas and a sign of the far-reaching impact of the out-of-control epidemic in West Africa.

    Authorities say Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps has been arrested on a DUI charge in Maryland.
    Transit police say they stopped the 29-year-old Phelps at the Fort McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday.

    The Greene County Sheriff’s office says a Labrador retriever was stolen from its Catskill home. Police say 59-year-old Mary Ellen Cariseo took “Kato” from his back yard on State Route 32A in Palenville.

    Police say they’ve arrested a pair on drug charges in Greene County. State troopers were conducting a narcotics investigation that led to the arrest of two Leeds residents.
